Just thought I'd share some experience about an inexpensive but very handy set of tools. The mirror-finish blades taper from about 0.008" (twice the thickness of a human hair) at the tip to about 1/16" at the tang, perfect for cutting glue into fine cracks. More flexible than a good drywall knife, they can be used to spread glue or remove it from your work, to apply and trim filler in restricted areas, or to paint in tight spaces where a brush would be too messy. Usable in either hand, the forged stainless-steel blades are bedded in hardwood handles with brass ferrules, a rustproof combination. Blades range from 1/2" to 1-1/2" wide. Palette Knives, set of 4 35K09.01 $9.95 " I have found that they are great for separating things. The thin leading edges makes it easy to start working them into an opening and having a few to work with also helps. This morning I used them to separate the form I have for my guitar heads from the head (my but that two-way tape can be tenacious). I also note that Lee Valley has free shipping up to January 3rd. I bought some at Michaels too. AC Moores another craft store carries them also at a cheap price. |
